acpet staff participate in workhealth checks

National Monday Update Issue:

Last week the staff at ACPET's Melbourne office participated in a free health check sponsored by WorkHealth Victoria.

WorkHealth offers organisations the opportunity to let their employees learn more about the state of their health, with health checks conducted while at work. The health check is quick and easy and will help individuals understand their risk of heart disease and type 2 diabetes.

Conducted in the privacy of ACPET's Board Room, individual health check took approximately 15-20 minutes.  Staff appreciated the opportunity to learn more about the state of their health, particularly as results were provided on the spot.  Participants were provided with:

  • a booklet of their test results
    • blood pressure
    • cholesterol
    • diabetes risk score
    • body shape
  • the following fact sheets :
    • Heart Health
    • You and diabetes
    • Your diet
    • You and drinking
    • Your physical activity
    • Your body shape

ACPET's checks were conducted by Ford Health, however, if you do not have a preferred provider WorkHealth will give you a list of providers to choose from.

All staff that participated were positive about the checks and the feedback provided.  Results remain private and confidential; ACPET did not receive any personal information about the individual's health.

Victorian members wishing to take advantage of this service should visit WorkHealth's website for more information: www.workhealth.vic.gov.au
