The Gold Coast was the international centre for education and training this week with over 1000 delegates from 55 countries attended this years annual Asia Pacific Association of International Educators (APAIE) Conference.
The ACPET Forum was held on the Monday and Tuesday and attracted a number of APAIE delegates who then attended en masse at the Gold Coast Convention Centre. Of interest to members is that there is a growing acknowledgement of the growing significance of private providers and the extraordinary market opportunities from partnering with onshore institutions, particularly in India.
ACPET was a sponsor of the APAIE Conference and also hosted a number of APAIE delegates on a Sunset Broadwater Cruise on Monday evening. This cruise provided a wonderful opportunity for ACPETeers to mingle with our international guests and to be entertained by a Charlie Brown fashion parade directed by ACPET VET Futures own Lesley Weymss and compeered by ACPET National Chair Kay Ganley. Delegates to the ACPET QLD forum were welcomed by Kay Ganley (ACPET National Chair) and the forum was officialy opened by Mr John Paul Langbroek MP (Leader of the Opposition and member for Surfers Paradise).
ACPET Q would like to take this opportunity to say thanks to all those members who contributed at these respective events and in particular to those who provided direction for their industry association through the interactive sessions at the ACPET Forum.
ACPET Q was also pleased to be able to welcome a number of our interstate and national colleagues at the Forum, including CEO Andrew Smith, Manager of Policy and Research Ben Vivekanandan, Manager of International Engagement Steve Quirk, Manger of HR Services Brenda Lucardie, NSW EO Melinda Larkin, NSW Member Service Officer, Sarah Rosen and SA EO Joy de Leo.
The key actions for ACPET identified at the Forum are being collated by facilitator Allan Bonsall of lookinglass.com and will be distributed to attending members shortly.
