whitehouse institute of design has a winning interior design student

National Monday Update Issue:

Congratulations to Samantha Lloyd-Holmes, third-year Interior Design Student at Whitehouse Institute of Design.

She has been selected to participate in the inaugural ‘Studio’ program, an initiative of Covemore Designs.

Students from design schools across Sydney were invited to nominate themselves for this innovative internship. The design internship program ‘Studio’ was born to bridge the gap between Design schools and the Australian furniture industry by recognising that young designers are the key to its future.

Covemore Designs will be working closely with Samantha to develop a new range of living and dining furniture that will promote the fresh perspectives she brings to an established manufacturer. This collaboration is expected to create some interesting outcomes from the combination of Covemore Designs technical expertise and Samantha’s innovative designs. The products/range designed by Samantha will be launched in September 2010 at an event where industry members will have the chance to meet with the young designer and review the products/range.

‘Studio’ program will run annually and will give our young Australian designers the opportunity to gain important practical experience while working with Covemore Designs to influence the evolution of the furniture industry.
