National Disability Coordination Officers, or NDCOs, are funded by the Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) to support the transitions of people with disabilities from school or the community, through higher education and training and into employment. Their job is to support people with a disability, but also service providers in improving life outcomes through appropriate education, training and employment practices.
Changes were made to the Disability Discrimination Act in 2009, which impact on education and training providers whether students are local or international. You might be surprised what legally constitutes a disability in education and training. It is estimated that about 18% of Australians of working and training age having a disability.
