vet futures update

National Monday Update Issue:

1. Workshops

Members would be aware that ACPET is in partnership with DET to deliver a wealth of professional development and other opportunities for the VET practitioner.

This week, Lesley Wemyss presented to over 100 participants in both Brisbane and Caloundra at a TAE10 (Teaching and Education 2010 superseding TAA10, which didn’t quite make the grade, which replaces the TAA, which replaces the old BSZ, which replaced Train the Trainer).

In his introduction to the seminar, ACPET Q EO Michael Hall made mention that while this package has yet to receive all the necessary sign offs at a Federal level, it is important that we are at least aware of what has been proposed and the implications thereof.

Following on from this workshop was Clustering and Mapping Assessments which was also well attended.

Next week’s workshops includes a continuation by Lesley of both TAE10 and Clustering and Mapping Assessments, in Mackay (15 March), Townsville (16 March) and Cairns (17 March).

Also next week, marketing guru Allan Bonsall will be presenting sessions on RTO business planning in both Brisbane (15 March-sorry full house) and Cairns (19 March).

2. VET Institute Survey

ACPET is undergoing an environmental scan as to the desirability and feasibility of an “Institute for the VET Professional”.

As the VET sector endeavours to formulate closer links and pathways to the higher education sector, it is appropriate that VET practitioners have an opportunity to be recognized for their contributions.  While ACPET has some ideas of how such an institute could work and offer varying levels of recognition to practitioners, it is important that we have a mandate from the VET sector to pursue this matter.

A survey has been developed to assist with this process.

We would value your input.  And those submitting a completed survey go into the draw for a complimentary registration for the ACPET Q Forum with one night’s accommodation at the Sofitel, Broadbeach.

3. ACPET Q Forum

Members will note in this week’s Edition, the registration form and interim program for the ACPET Q Towards 2020 Forum, being held on the Gold Coast at the Sofitel Broadbeach on 12th & 13th April.

The two day program will be quite diverse and of course we can’t forget the networking opportunities, the highlight this year will be a three hour all inclusive jazz, fashion cruise on the fabulous Broadwater.

VET Futures will also be a key focus for VET practitioners attending the forum, with sessions on social inclusion, assessment, moderation, TAE10, AQTF10 and a number of case studies thanks to contributing members.

Day two will also feature a debate on the concept of the VET Institute.
