safety message for students – travelling safely in adelaide city at night

National Monday Update Issue:

Adelaide City Council has implemented a range of safety measures to ensure the safety of people who are in the city at night, including an After Midnight Bus and Managed Taxi Ranks.

Given that many international students live in the city or work at night and need to travel home late, education providers may wish to inform their students of the Council’s safety measures.

Catch the After Midnight bus home on Saturdays and don't drive with drunks!

The Adelaide Metro After Midnight bus is a safer way to get home on Saturday night!

Cheap! Purchase a ticket for around $3
Safer! Well lit, busy pick up stops and cooler than cruising with drunk drivers
Easy as! Pick up a bus at Currie, Grenfell or King William Street

Check out bus stop locations and a full timetable at adelaidemetro.com.au or on your mobile jnomad.com

Managed Taxi ranks in Adelaide City

Did you know there is a safer way to get a Taxi in the city at night?

On Friday and Saturday from 11pm-3am (some ’til 6am on Sunday) security staff four City Taxi ranks at:
1. Morphett Street (near corner of Hindley Street)
2. Pulteney Street (near Rundle Mall, opposite Hungry Jacks)
3. North Terrace (at the Railway Station)
4. West Terrace (at HQ)

Safety Tips for Students:

  • Meet your friends at these well-lit, security patrolled locations.
  • Wait at one of these ranks if you get separated from your friends.
  • Keep a ‘taxi money’ pouch so you don't spend your ride home!

Enjoy your night on the town!
