Private providers in WA continue to experience a range of problems associated with applying for and gaining student places in the Productivity Places Program.
Many providers are frustrated with dealing with inexperienced staff members within the DTWD. There is a perception that DTWD staff are unaware of the operating environment of a privately run organisation. This is further compounded by decisions of the DTWD to demand unreasonable timeframes from the private sector whilst often not adhering to their own deadlines. Furthermore, placing deadlines for private providers on public holidays is not a reasonable buisness practice and Government should take action to ensure such incidents do not occur in the future.
Genuine consultation with the private training sector would have prevented these costly inefficiencies to business and given confidence to students waiting for a place.
