consultations and open forums on creating a new national regulator for the vet sector

National Monday Update Issue: 

In December, COAG agreed to create a new national regulator for the VET sector.

The states and territories are working with the Commonwealth are working together to create the legislation and intergovernmental agreement which will allow the national regulator to be launched in in 2011.

Input from the VET sector will ensure the new regulatory arrangements meet the needs of learners, industry and providers. VET providers and the industry can attend consultations and open forums being hosted by the Department of Education, Employment, and Workplace Relations this month, in the following locations:

  • Brisbane - Thursday 11 March from 2–5 pm at the Sebel Suites, corner of Albert and Charlotte Streets
  • Melbourne - Friday 12 March from 10 am–1 pm at the Hotel Grand Chancellor, Lonsdale Street
  • Sydney - Monday 15 March from 9 am–12 pm at the SMC Conference and Function Centre, 66 Goulburn Street 
  • Adelaide - Tuesday 16 March 5–8 pm at the Mecure Grovesnor, North Terrace 
  • Hobart - Thursday 18 March 4-7pm at the Grand Mecure Hadleys Hotel, Murray Street
  • Darwin - Thursday 25 March 10am-1pm at the Crowne Plaza, Mitchell Street
  • Canberra - Tuesday 30 March 1pm-3pm at the Mantra on Northbourne, Northbourne Ave
  • Perth - Wednesday 31 March 2pm-5pm at the Mantra on Murray, Murray Street
