The second stage of the new industrial relations regulations was introduced on 1 January 2010, as a result of the Fair Work Act 2009.Modern Awards and the National Employment Standards have now come in to effect. For the post secondary private education sector, this means the introduction of the Education Services (Post Secondary Education) Award 2010 or transitioning from other instruments.

Interpretation and application of the modern Awards have raised a range of questions among members, particularly around hours, coverage, classification and transition. No doubt there are more questions to explore!

This seminar will assist understanding and implementation of the new requirements, communication with staff, and dealing with regulators, as well as provide practical workplace relations information in relation to:

  • Education Services Award interpretation
  • Transitional arrangements
  • Agreement making
  • Resources, tools and further support

Transitional arrangements will also be explored to clarify how differences in costs may be smoothed over the next five years. Participants will be encouraged to participate and share their experiences and questions.

Please register by Thursday 18 March 2010
