acpet meeting with skills tasmania on proposed vet industry plan

National Monday Update Issue:

On Tuesday ACPET Tasmania EO Cindy Tschernitz and Tasmanian committee member David Dunn met with Skills Tasmania to discuss the proposed VET Industry Plan for Tasmanian RTO’s.

The main thrust of the discussion was around Workforce Development and ensuring that we have a “Sustainable and growing Industry” in Tasmania that promotes and values quality in both training delivery and training staff. ACPET welcomed the discussion and is fully supportive of any initiative that promotes quality training and assessment to industry, learners and the general public.

ACPET commented that private RTO’s would like support from Skills Tasmania to allow their staff to upgrade from the basic Cert IV TAA qualification to Diploma which will lift the quality of delivery. ACPET also noted providers concerns around the funding differentiation between Tasmanian Skills Institute and private providers and that we would welcome a level playing field and fully contestable market.

The proposed project is to align with the Service Providers Committee “Value Chain Report” and Tasmanian Skills Strategy.
