National Monday Update Issue:
Further action on quality
A major overhaul of TAS operations will be implemented this year as a further demonstration of ACPET’s determination to protect the interests of members committed to the delivery of high quality education.
Domestic and international providers will benefit from an initiative that will see the introduction of risk profiling for all TAS members, an improved funding model and greater transparency.
These changes were just one of the initiatives that result from the annual planning conference involving the ACPET Board and executive staff this week. As a result of 2 days discussion and planning, key streams of activity for 2010 will focus on member engagement, promotion of quality private education and training and market development opportunities for members.
In line with our strategic objective to promote and enhance private tertiary education to achieve the highest quality educational outcomes for individuals, employers and the public interest there will be a significant focus on quality committed and sustainable institutions.
The coming year will not be without its challenges for all involved in our sector, however, as your representative body we are determined to continue our drive to support and reward those in our membership whose values align with ours. Over 30 institutions were removed from membership in 2009 for failing to meet our standards. Remaining members who do not share our commitment to quality can expect that their association with ACPET will come under scrutiny.
Members will be invited to participate in a series of focus groups will be organised in coming weeks to provide members with an opportunity to have input into the development of new TAS arrangements for 2010/2011. Please contact me should you be interested in participating in these workshops.
Please do not hesitate to contact me (click to email Andrew Smith) to discuss any of the above or to provide your ideas and input into the ongoing development of the Council.
