a ‘sterling’ finish for students

National Monday Update Issue:

Last week, Evolution Hospitality Institute held a special ‘end of course’ function for the students completing their certificate III in patisserie from the failed Sterling College which unexpectedly collapsed toward the latter part of 2009.

Due to time constraints and individual needs, the students were given a rigorous timetable which saw them working through the Christmas and New Year breaks with their trainers Shane Davey (practical), and Antonio Madrusan (theory).

Although only a relatively small class, they produced a beautiful array of various desserts and petit fours presented in a buffet style. Evolution staff, guests and agents were invited to participate and approximately 40 people attended the event which was received with great pride from the students. Another team of students from a first term class headed by trainer Carlos D’Elboux provided a more savoury taste with a very nice array of canapés handed around by the students.

The Evolution directors and team members are proud of the student’s achievement displaying a mature approach to the challenge in the face of recent adversity. In addition, students from the collapsed Meridian College have just joined Evolution and are facing a similar challenge to complete their certificate III courses in patisserie and cookery before continuing on to complete a diploma in hospitality with Evolution.

With the same compassion and professionalism afforded to the Sterling College students, they will certainly be given every opportunity to complete their studies in flying colours.

Once again, congratulations to all the Sterling College students for not just completing their studies in fine fashion, but showing resilience and determination in the face of great misfortune and regaining their faith in private education in Australia.
