jma analytics national report on vet practitioner skills

National Monday Update Issue: 

John Mitchell & Associates (JMA) has released a report on the National Survey of Vocational Education and Training (VET) Practitioner Skills.

The survey was conducted in October-November 2009 and completed online by 2230 VET practitioners, asking respondents 140 questions. According to JMA, the results of the survey found that current skill levels of the average Australian VET trainer and assessor meet only 80% of this group’s professional work requirements and that by 2014, the current skill levels of the average Australian VET trainer and assessor will meet only 62% of this group’s requirements.

The survey also found that current professional development opportunities meet only 55% of VET trainer and assessor’s professional needs.
