National

Members are aware that a key theme in ACPET International Education Strategic Plan for 2010 is the development and broadening of the market base for private international education in Australia as well as the profiling of the range and diversity of educational programs and services delivered through the private education sector.

The Review of the FNS04 Financial Services Training Package has entered its final stages and validation workshops for the revised qualifications and Units of Competency will shortly take place across Australia.

Implementing AQTF 2010

The CDAA National Career Conference will be held in Adelaide on 7-9 April 2010 at the Adelaide Hilton on the theme of Greening Career Development to prepare future workers for Green jobs.

The Council of Australian Governments (COAG) has amended the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) to strengthen the regulatory requirements underpinning the VET sector where weaknesses have become apparent.

Australian Capital Territory

The ACT Exporters’ Network is partnering with the Centre for Customs & Excise Studies and Austrade to deliver a ‘Getting into Services Export’ workshop.

This workshop will provide an Introduction to Flexible Learning Toolbox materials as quality assured online teaching/learning resources.

New South Wales

This year’s theme is ‘focusing on a positive future’ and is being held from 1-2 March 2010 at the Sydney Exhibition and Convention Centre, Darling Harbour.

NSW RTO applicants may apply for funding ranging from $10,000 to $50,000 for the 2010 E-learning Innovations Projects.

ACPET NSW is currently developing a range of PD programs that will be rolled out to members in NSW over the course of 2010.

Queensland

Queensland Education and Training International (QETI), together with Austrade, and with the support of Australia Education International (AEI), recently delivered the first in a series of four market intelligence seminars.

Nominations for the Queensland Training Awards 2010 are now open. The awards recognise individuals and organisations who strive for success, best practice and innovation in training. The awards are the state’s highest recognition for excellence in vocational education and training.

Trade Queensland have been working with our overseas offices in China to arrange a Green Building Trade mission to China.

As members would be aware, ACPET and DET are working together to identify strategies for sustainable professional development and to assist in the business capacity of RTO’s.

In true Aussie style last weekend, ACPET conducted a sausage sizzle at the invitation of Dan Murphy Cellars at Hamilton to raise funds for this year’s Port to Port challenge from Southport to Port Douglas.

Western Australia

In view of the agriculture industry facing challenges from rapidly changing markets and cost pressures, the need to incorporate new technology and to pursue new opportunities, the Department of Education has set up the first specific broad-based review of agricultural education conducted in WA since 1981 (chaired by the Hon. Hendy Cowan).

The CDAA Employer of the Year Awards are in recognition of the commitment employers demonstrate in implementing career development initiatives in the workplace.

ACPET WA are working with the Committee for Perth in raising the profile of WA to overseas markets.
