How do I make changes to my ASTAS course scope?
It is the responsibility of each member to ensure that ACPET is advised of any changes to their scope for the purposes of tuition assurance and their subsequent compliance with the AQTF conditions of registration and/or the Higher Education Support Act. ACPET receives no such advice from either DIISRTE or the State/Territory accrediting body and relies entirely on information supplied by the member.
Further ACPET is not an accrediting body and has no ability to authenticate any changes to a providers scope. ACPET must be notified solely for the purposes of tuition assurance. In some instances, tuition assurance may need to be sought first in order for the changes to take effect.
Any changes to a provider's scope must be handled through the accrediting authority through which they were first registered.
Once you have completed the form, you will need to send it to ACPET's Membership Office via fax 02 9264 4550 or email membership [at] acpet [dot] edu [dot] au (Membership)
The Membership Office will contact you within 1 week if there are any issues with course cover.
How do you calculate my ASTAS Category?
ASTAS categories are based on the total annual income derived from ALL local students including FEE-HELP and VET FEE-HELP. ASTAS Categories are not currently based on student numbers.
Does ACPET notify DIISRTE of any ASTAS course changes?
DIISRTE will be advised via an email including an ACPET ASTAS-HE/VET Provider Report where a provider offers FEE-HELP or VET FEE-HELP courses.
The main contact of the membership will also be included on this email. This will reflect the requested changes to your ASTAS course scope.
For Providers with standard ASTAS, the main contact of the membership will be sent an email including an ACPET ASTAS Provider Report to confirm cover. If your State Accreditation Body requires confirmation of your ASTAS Membership for any reason, this email should be sufficient.
What if not other providers have the course listed on their ASTAS scope?
If your course is unique and no other providers in the same state have the course listed on their ASTAS scope, the course will be listed in status 5. The Membership Office will be in contact with you regarding the special provisions that will be required to secure ASTAS coverage for the course/s.
To allow coverage for your unique course/s, there will be a need for additional financial requirements, such as a Bank Guarantee or an assurance amount secured in the ACPET Provider Contribution Trust. The required assurance amount will be calculated based on the cost of the course, the number of students enrolled and the risk rating of the provider.
I am currently an ASTAS Member with Non FEE-HELP courses listed on scope and am interested in applying to become a FEE-HELP or VET FEE-HELP provider. What do I need to do to make sure my ASTAS membership is sufficient?
Tuition Assurance for FEE-HELP and VET FEE-HELP needs to be approved by the ACPET Board and is not automatically upgraded on request. To apply for HE / VET FEE-HELP TAS you will need to fill in the ASTAS section of the application form (pages 1-3 and 12-15) and send it into the Membership Office.
It is recommended that you submit your ASTAS-HE/VET application at the same time as you submit your application to DIISRTE to ensure that the processing of your ASTAS-HE/VET does not cause a delay in your DIISRTE application.
