Modern Awards are in - What to do now - Victoria

Wednesday, March 17, 2010 11:00 - 12:30

As of 1 January 2010, the second stage of the new industrial relations regulations has been introduced as a result of the Fair Work Act 2009. Specifically modern Awards and the National Employment Standards have come in to effect.

For the post secondary private education sector, this means the introduction of the Education Services (Post Secondary Education) Award 2010 or transitioning from other instruments.

Interpretation and application of the modern Awards have raised a range of questions among members, particularly around hours, coverage, classification and transition. No doubt there are more questions to explore!

In this new era of expanded regulation and compliance, ACPET aims to assist members and other interested attendees by hosting programs on how to understand and implement the new requirements, how to communicate with staff, and how to deal with regulators should this occur. Transitional arrangements will also be explored.

We are fortunate to be joined by Charles Power, Partner, Accredited Workplace Relations Specialist, Holding Redlich, who has an extensive knowledge of the education sector as well as being the Editor-in-Chief of the Employment Law Practical Handbook. Charles is a former associate to a Senior Deputy President of the Australian Industrial Relations Commission and a former senior adviser to a federal government minister.

This forum is designed specifically for our sector and to provide practical workplace relations information in relation to:
