National PD available in March: No More Fears! Things you need to know about learner engagement in e-learning
Monday, March 4 2013
The authors of the best international seller, the Golden Climate of Distance Learning, Dr Marina Kostina and Dr William LaGanza, in association with smallPRINT Australia and Catapult eLearning, will provide for a full distance learning experience for participants, with the facilitators conducting the webinars from their offices from Chicago, USA and from Paris, France. The program is not a training program on how to develop activities online, or how to choose and use a learning management system. It is not aimed at developing technical skills you might need on-line. Rather, it is about workforce development and capability building, and is different from most e-learning and distance learning programs that focus on the technology. This program will focus on connection:- the connection between teacher and student.
In this program of 3 webinars, you will be guided through a series of interconnected phases:
- first, you will be provided with an instant connection toolkit that will allow you to establish successful communication online and to make a positive first impression
- second, you will need to identify, acknowledge, and face your fears. You will be prompted to discover and rewire various patterns and misconceptions regarding distance learning that prevent you from enjoying this educational context. You will learn about the nature of online learning and gain valuable insights into the ways in which you can utilize this environment to benefit your students
- third, you will discover how to use best practice in an effective way to ensure its successful application online, and
- you will realize which cognitive and affective aspects of your being need to be developed in order to cultivate the Golden Climate, an optimal learning environment online.
Attend one or all 3 webinars in the series:
- It's not about the technology - it's about interrelating
- No more Fears: things you need to know about learner engagement in e-learning, and
- Doing it Right: Going beyond best practice in engaging students in e-learning
At the end of the webinar program, participants will have the knowledge and skills to:
- identify, acknowledge, and face your e-learning fears by being prompted to discover and rewire various patterns and misconceptions regarding distance learning that prevent enjoyment from this educational context, and
- understand the nature of on-line learning and gain valuable insights into the ways in which you can utilize this environment to benefit your students.
