National PD available in March - Social media tools for training: Pinterest (last chance!)
Monday, March 4 2013
Pinterest is a social network that allows users to visually share, curate, and discover new
interests by posting, also known as ‘pinning,’ images or videos to their own or others’ pinboards (i.e. a collection of ‘pins,’ usually with a common theme). Users can either upload images from their computer or pin things they find on the web using the Pinterest bookmarket, Pin It button, or just a URL.
In this session, we’ll explore how Pinterest can be harnessed in the teaching and learning environment. Pinterest offers a range of activities you can initiate to market your training institution to a new audience as well as support your existing learners, to take their learning outside of the training room. The goal here is to gain brand recognition, drive traffic to your
website and be successful at converting the new visits into sales and enrolments while opening up new opportunities for your existing learners.
At the end of the workshop, participants will have the knowledge and skills to:
- how to set up an account, post content and attract followers
- generating visual content to take advantage of Pinterest for marketing and training (eBooks, whitepapers, learner/project photos)
- moderating learners activities and assessment on Pinterest, and
- uncover effectiveness of Pinterest through web analytics.
